Nsanje district commissioner (DC) Medson Matchaya has warned organisations against handing over uncompleted projects.

He issued the warning on Friday when Kaombe Community Development Trust, which comprises Agricane Limited, Illovo Sugar (Malaw) Plc and Total Energies, handed over two under-five clinics and a water system project worth K80 million to the district council.

“The Ministry of Local Government has given direction that organisations to hand over complete projects. For example, if you construct a classroom, also construct a toilet,” he said.

He, however, commended Agricane for constructing a clinic in Senior Chief Mlolo’s area in the district.

“As a district, we will upgrade these facilities into health centres to provide maternity services to pregnant mothers,” he said.

Agricane Limited chief executive officer Chris Matthews said they wanted to contribute something in a community they are working.

“We are planning that from next year, we should save K20 million to support students in secondary schools and tertiary institutions,” he said.

Nsanje Lalanje legislator Gladys Ganda of the Democratic Progressive Party thanked Kaombe Community Trust for the facilities.

“We gave land to Kaombe Community Trust to do commercial farming so that in turn they can implement projects that we need,” she said.

The trust constructed two under-five clinics at Chithumba and Chizola group village heads and installed a pipe water system at Phokera in the area.
